He was first trained at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ens.fr%2F&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNFuSZd3ABsI2jYRGJ_lmV7uwSW14g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure Paris<\/a> as a physicist and at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.centralesupelec.fr%2F&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNH0HzSi_UEB7GNdGk1tObNee5YVYg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ecole Sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019Electricit\u00e9<\/a> as a microelectronics engineer. He received the Ph.D. degree from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.u-psud.fr%2F&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNEIJO4hq28YN8JNoqYf_YsAZ2PNyw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Universit\u00e9 Paris-Sud<\/a> in 2009. He was then a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University and at the Commissariat a l\u2019Energie Atomique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_j2yMuEKxcB6e\">Damien Querlioz develops new concepts in nanoelectronics relying on bio-inspiration. He believes that nanoelectronics can allow inventing highly energy-efficient forms of memory-centric computing. He investigates stochastic approaches, the use of spintronics devices for bioinspired systems, and the connection between bioinspired memories and Bayesian inference. His research interests have also included the physics of advanced nanodevices. He has developed the Wigner Monte Carlo approach to simulate and understand quantum transport in nanometer-scale devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_145\">In 2016, Damien Querlioz received the Habilitation degree (HDR). Since 2017, he is the coordinator of the interdisciplinary <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fintegnano.c2n.universite-paris-saclay.fr%2F&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNHPlBhSHCYe45jorvNxLVRc5mdyyw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">INTEGNANO<\/a> research group, with amazing colleagues working around an integrative and multidisciplinary approach to the development of novel charge and spin based devices, as well as fantastic <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/damienquerlioz\/students-and-postdocs\">students and postdocs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_147\">Damien Querlioz is a member of the bureau of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fgdr-biocomp.fr%2F&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNGrJfwiUH7ijXo2jcvl3gaxTZFGlg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GDR Biocomp<\/a>, a French network to facilitate interdisciplinary exchanges around the realization of bio-inspired hardware systems, and has been a management committee member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.memocis.eu%2F&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNHIIHuS0SWpGDGn4eN-XChpnC4acA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MEMOCIS COST action<\/a>, a European-wide scientific and technology knowledge platform on memristive technology. <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/damienquerlioz\/publications\">He has coauthored 4 book chapters, more than 100 journal articles and conference proceedings and given more than 50 invited talks at national and international workshops and conferences<\/a>. He has also coauthored the book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FWigner-Monte-Carlo-Method-Nanoelectronic-Devices%2Fdp%2F1848211503&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNGtDmA0YpqB-V1cpabmO-UX-YHRhg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cThe Wigner Monte-Carlo Method for Nanoelectronic Devices\u201d<\/a> (London: ISTE; Hoboken: Wiley, 2010) with Philippe Dollfus. In 2017, he received a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnrs.fr%2Ffr%2Fpersonne%2Fdamien-querlioz&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AFQjCNGyqT9WSbPV2GdQkya8yZlAEJaHDw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNRS Bronze medal<\/a>. He has also been a co-recipient of the 2017 IEEE Guillemin-Cauer Best Paper Award and of the 2018 IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Best Paper Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h.p_ID_149\">The research of Damien Querlioz has been funded by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union (FETOPEN BAMBI), Agence Nationale de la Recherche, R\u00e9gion Ile-de-France\/DIM NANO-K and Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00e9cologie, du d\u00e9veloppement durable et de l\u2019\u00e9nergie. In recent years, he also received funding from CNRS\/Mission pour l\u2019Interdisciplinarit\u00e9 and CNRS\/INSIS.
